Biography

Mr. Martínez has ample experience advising clients on corporate governance, regulatory and government licensing matters, financing transactions, mergers and acquisitions, contracts, real estate matters, banking law, public private partnerships, public finance, and securities.

Throughout his career, Mr. Martínez has advised clients in the structuring and negotiation of various stock and asset purchase and sale transactions in the tourism, retail, automobile, healthcare, entertainment, education, insurance, manufacturing and services sectors. Mr. Martínez has also advised one of Puerto Rico’s largest banking institutions in transactional and regulatory compliance matters. He has served as counsel for local (Puerto Rico), United States and international financial institutions in complex, and at times, cross-border, financing transactions in the healthcare, retail, automobile, finance and renewable energy sectors. In addition, Mr. Martínez regularly advises several international retail chains on day-to-day contracting, corporate governance, regulatory, and government licensing matters.

Mr. Martínez is a former associate of the New York office of Sidley Austin LLP (formerly known as Sidley Austin Brown & Wood LLP). He is a member of the New York Bar as well as the Puerto Rico Bar. He has a B.S. from Boston College (1998) and a J. D. from University of Pennsylvania’s Law School (2001).
